Next Year.

Beginning to think about next years racing schedule. Right now I don't have anything concrete ready to post, but I am leaning towards a full Fun Promotions season. The CPS series is going to be the exact same events again for 2010. If I do it I am thinking about racing single speed for select events. I will probably go to Hanson Hills no matter what just because that course is so much fun I will probably skip most of the time trials with the exception of Yankee, because its so early and such a good event you just have to do it.

I really am hoping to pick up a Superfly 100 this winter. If I get my wish that will be my weapon of choice for the endurance events. The Niner will then be converted to a singlespeed for CPS events. If not the Niner will be equipped with XX for racing and the monocog will be used as the SS.

My wife is not in favor of the Superfly plan, but she will come around. She seems to think the kids need some clothes or something; silly girl. :) Racing is way more important than them going to school clothed.

SRAM for 2010

Just got the call this evening that the team will be receiving additional sponsorship in the way of a SRAM grassroots deal for 2010.

Goals

It's funny how things change throughout the year. Prior to the first race I really wanted to be around 190lbs for this season. Well, that never happened and since I have been off the bike more than on it lately I don't see that happening any time soon. Besides its almost winter and I will need the insulation :o).

I also haven't hit the total mileage I thought I would hit for the year. At the beginning I was thinking I shorting myself of where I would be overall, since I had such a strong desire early on to do well but things always seemed to derail my plans. Finding the time with a family to ride is not always the easiest. I could always get rid of them, but most of the days I like to have them around so that's not really an option.

I also never reached my goal of standing on the podium at Yankee. It was a strong goal anyways especially with moving to a new class, but I thought I would give it a shot. I was in the top 10 though so not to bad. I should also finish up within the top 5-6 riders this year in my class so overall that's not really that bad. I wanted to shoot for a sub 2 hour time at Iceman, but since I have decided not to race that will be nearly impossible to accomplish now.

Does any of this bother me?? Not really after thinking about how much fun I had this year. Starting the OTW team worked out much better than the chapter team last year. We had a great group of riders who actually showed up to race, besides they were all a group group of people. We have also had some nice team and group rides this year. I meet a lot of new people on the weekly road rides and a few new people on the MTB rides. I completed my first solo 6 hour event taking 1st in the process, won the Hare Racer in Adrian, did my first singlespeed race at Stoney Creek, had my first DNF at Hanson Hills, and seperated my AC joint on a group ride at Fort Custer.

Overall, its been a great summer of riding with a great group of friends. Thanks to everyone including my wife for letting me ride and the friends who making riding so enjoyable.

Change of plans...

This fall was suppose to be my debut into cyclocross racing. As of now I don't see that happening for a couple of reasons. Last week I actually sold my cross bike its been sitting in the house since the Barry-Roubaix race and hasn't moved since it still had the dirt on it from that race. Second, I am a little burnt out right now I may do one other race this year, but that will be it. I plan to just finish the year out doing some nice group rides at various trails.

It looks like Iceman is going to be a no go as well. I really don't feel like spending the money to make the trip. The 4000+ riders for the race is another factor that doesn't appeal to me. I remember how crowed certain sections were last year I can't imagine it being better with more double the people.

I am already beginning to look at next year in regards to training, race schedule, sponsors, and what I may or may not being riding in the future. I have my eye on two bikes for endurance racing next year. Hopefully, I can pick up what I am thinking in time for next spring.

Ahhhh....

After 7 months of waiting it finally arrived Friday night in all of its glory. The weight on this fork is sick. Plus it just makes the bike. Audra didn't think it was going to look good, but once it was mounted she really liked the way it looked too.

I am gettting ready to take it out for its inaugural ride.
